Blessings of Salat

1Bow down with those who bow

وَ اَقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَ اٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَ وَ ارْكَعُوْا مَعَ الرّٰكِعِيْنَ

And observe Prayer and pay the Zakat, and bow down with those who bow.

2Hasten to the Friday Prayer

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِذَا نُوْدِيَ لِلصَّلٰوةِ مِنْ يَّوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا اِلٰى ذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ وَ ذَرُوا الْبَيْعَ١ؕ ذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۞ فَاِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلٰوةُ فَانْتَشِرُوْا فِي الْاَرْضِ وَ ابْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِ اللّٰهِ وَ اذْكُرُوا اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ

O ye who believe! when the call is made for Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off all business. That is better for you, if you only knew. And when the Prayer is finished, then disperse in the land and seek of Allah's grace, and remember Allah much, that you may prosper.

1There is great blessing in congregation and concord

The Jama'at should have its own mosque with an imam of the Jama'at who can give sermons etc. And people of the Jama'at should gather in the mosque to offer congregational Prayer. There is great blessing in congregation and concord. Dispersion causes discord and this is a time to uphold unity and concord a great deal and overlook trivial matters which can cause discord.

غرضیکہ جماعت کی اپنی مسجد ہونی چاہیے جس میں اپنی جماعت کا امام ہو اور وعظ وغیرہ کرے اور جماعت کے لوگوں کو چاہیے کہ سب مل کر اسی مسجد میں نماز باجماعت ادا کیا کریں۔ جماعت اور اتفاق میں بڑی برکت ہے۔ پراگندگی سے پھوٹ پیدا ہوتی ہے اور یہ وقت ہے کہ اس وقت اتحاد اور اتفاق کو بہت ترقی دینی چاہیے اور ادنیٰ ادنیٰ سی باتوں کو نظر انداز کر دینا چاہیے جو کہ پھوٹ کا باعث ہوتی ہیں۔

2"Everyone is together but I am not there"

I am still feeling dizzy today, but when the time for congregational Prayer approaches, the thought occurs that everyone is together but I am not there. It saddens me, so I come even with great difficulty.

میرے سر کی حالت آج بھی اچھی نہیں چکر آ رہا ہے۔ جب جماعت کا وقت آتا ہے تو اس وقت خیال گذرتا ہے کہ سب جماعت ہوگی اور میں شامل نہ ہوں گا اور افسوس ہوتا ہے۔ اس لیے افتاں خیزاں چلا آتا ہوں۔

1Instil in children the habit of offering congregational prayer

In my view, there are no greater enemies [of children] than those parents who do not instil in their children the habit of offering the congregational prayer. … If parents instil in their children the habit of congregational Prayer, then a time can never come upon them when it could be said that their reform is impossible and that they are beyond cure.

میرے نزدیک ان ماں باپ سے بڑھ کر کوئی دشمن نہیں جو بچوں کو نماز با جماعت ادا کرنے کی عادت نہیں ڈالتے … اگر ماں باپ بچوں کو نماز با جماعت کی عادت ڈالیں تو کبھی ان پر ایسا وقت نہیں آسکتا کہ یہ کہا جا سکے کہ ان کی اصلاح نا ممکن ہے اور وہ قابل علاج نہیں رہے۔

2The most important of all worship

Of all acts of worship, the most important is the congregational Prayer. After it come the remembrance of Allah, voluntary Prayers, invoking blessings on the Holy Prophet (sa), and glorifying, praising and extolling the greatness of Allah. All of these are part of worship, but I see that our Jama'at still pays very little attention to this.

عبادتوں میں سے سب اہم عبادت نماز با جماعت ہے۔ اس کے بعد ذکر الہٰی ، نوافل پڑھنا، درود پڑھنا، تسبیح، تحمید اور تکبیر کرنا۔ یہ سب چیزیں عبادت میں شامل ہیں مگر میں دیکھتا ہوں ابھی تک ہماری جماعت میں اس طرف بہت ہی کم توجہ ہے۔

1A frontier post against Satan

The biggest threat to a believer is from Satan from which safety and frontier are required. The threat is from worldly desires that Satan generates. This is where Satan attacks from. In order to be protected from such attacks, the congregational prayers serve as a frontier. It is a battalion of guardians that will protect from such attacks. Congregational prayers will save believers from sins and will [incline] them towards performing good deeds.

پس ایک مومن کو سب سے بڑا خطرہ جس سے بچنے کے لئے اس کو ضرورت ہے، جس کے بچنے کے لئے چھاؤنی قائم کرنے کی ضرورت ہے وہ خطرہ شیطان کا ہے۔ دنیاوی خواہشات کا خطرہ ہے جو شیطان دل میں پیدا کرتا ہے۔ ان کے ذریعہ سے شیطان حملہ کرتا ہے۔ پس ان سے بچنے کے لئے نماز با جماعت کی چھاؤنی ہے۔ یہی محافظوں کا دستہ ہے جو شیطان کے حملوں سے بچائے گا۔ گناہوں سے انسان بچے گا اور نیکیوں کی طرف توجہ پیدا ہو گی۔

2Twenty-five to twenty-seven times the blessings

Regarding the reward of offering prayers in congregation, God Almighty has not only said to simply offer the prayers, rather He has instructed to offer the prayer in congregation and whilst also fulfilling its due rights which will in turn grant 25 times – or in some cases twenty seven times – more blessings. If there is no genuine excuse and we do not pay attention towards this, then how unfortunate will we be?

نماز باجماعت پڑھنے والے کا ثواب بھی اللہ تعالیٰ نے صرف یہ نہیں کہا کہ نمازیں پڑھو بلکہ باجماعت پڑھے۔ حق ادا کر کے پڑھے تو پچیس گنا اور بعض جگہ ستائیس گنا ثواب رکھا ہوا ہے بیان کیا گیا ہے۔ اس کے باوجود اگر بغیر کسی جائز عذر کے ہم اس طرف توجہ نہ دیں تو پھر ہماری کس قدر بد قسمتی ہے۔

3Every step to the mosque is rewarded

The dues of worship of God are paid best of all by filling mosques. A hadith relates that congregational Prayer is 25 times more meritorious than the Prayer one offers at home or in the marketplace. And this is because when he performs ablutions properly and proceeds to the mosque with the sole purpose of offering Prayer, he does not take one step without being raised a degree in rank and his one sin is removed on his next step. And as long as he is on the Prayer mat angels will send blessings on him.

عبادت کا حق سب سے زیادہ مسجدوں کی آبادی بڑھانے سے ہی ادا ہوتا ہے … آدمی کی باجماعت نماز اس کی اس نماز سے پچیس گنا (بعض جگہ پر ستائیس گنا بھی ہے) بہتر ہے جو وہ اپنے گھر میں یا بازار میں پڑھے۔ اور یہ اس لئے کہ جب وہ وضو کرے اور اچھی طرح وضو کرے پھر وہ مسجد کی طرف نکلے اس حال میں کہ اسے صرف نماز ہی نکال رہی ہے تو جو قدم بھی وہ اٹھائے گا اس کے ایک قدم پر اس کا ایک درجہ بلند کیا جائے گا اور دوسرے پر ایک گناہ دور کر دیا جائے گا۔
